Horseshoe Bay is considered to be a resort community here in the Texas Hill Country. Located off of FM 2147 the town hugs the shorelines of Lake LBJ and rests in both Llano and Burnet Counties. The city can be found just 6 miles southwest of Marble Falls, and only about an hour away from our Austin Capitol.

About Horseshoe Bay, the City
Many cities and towns are named after a person or some special event, and Horseshoe Bay is no different. Its name is rumored to have resulted when one of its founders, Wayne Hurd, discovered a horseshoe in the lake bed of Lake LBJ. 1972 was the year cousins Wayne and Norman Hurds began their vision of developing a resort getaway from a hill country ranch.
In 2005 the community of Horseshoe Bay voted to become an incorporated city, so …. welcome to the City of Horseshoe Bay.
Fast forward to 2013 … the flourishing City of Horseshoe Bay is a favorite retirement and vacation lake escape.
A great community for all ages, Horseshoe Bay continues to draw visitors and newcomers for a variety of activities, none the least of which is water fun on Lake LBJ. Parks, the four championship golf courses, tennis courts and Horseshoe Bay Jet Center are some additional perks offered by this resort town!
